APSCC Conference at a Glance

Asia's premier satellite event, the 8th Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications, Broadcasting and Space Conference and Exhibition, APSCC 2005 Satellite Conference & Exhibition was successfully organized in Singapore gathering over 400 participants of satellite industry professionals who need the latest information about the Asia-Pacific market. 165 companies from 26 countries attended CEO Roundtables, Panels, Sessions, Exhibition and APSCC Awards Ceremony.

After opening address delivered by Dr. Eui K. Koh, President of APSCC, Mr. Andy Haire, Deputy General, Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, delivered welcoming address. Then Mr. Bill Hope, Executive Vice President of SingTel Optus, delivered Keynote address.
In the CEO Roundtables for Satellite Operators, Manufacturers, Broadcasters and Launchers attended leaders of the industry to discuss the opportunities, challenges and strategies in the region including Adi Adiwoso, President & CEO, ACeS International,

Under the theme, 'Satellites - New Opportinities in Asia' high-level 100 speakers of industry participated in roundtables, sessions and panels on Satellite Business Strategy, Space Applications, DTH, DMB, Policy and Regulatory Issues, Insurance and Risk Management, Disaster Prevention and Recovery, Broadband Applications, Content Delivery via Satellite, Satellite Manufacturing and Reliability, Distance Learning and E-Business, News Services and New Technologies.
   
   
APSCC 2005 also recognized the significant contributions to the advancements of the satellite and space industry in the Asia-Pacific through the 2005 APSCC Awards. In 2005 Award Ceremony held on 27 September, Mr. Adi Adiwoso, President and CEO of ACeS International has been given 'Satellite Executive of the Year in Asia-Pacific Award' with recognition for his contribution to launch the first regional mobile satellite system and his effort to restore emergency telecommunications services in Tsunami stricken area in the Asia Pacific region. Also, APSCC Awarded Dr K. Kasturirangan, Former Chairman of ISRO, 'Lifetime Achievement Award' which recognizes his contribution to build ISRO as a comprehensive total space leader in building satellite and operating satellites and he was instrumental to lead ISRO to be a world class aerospace organization.
   
In the exhibition, Arianespace, ACeS, GlobeCast Asia, GMV S.A., IOT Systems, KT Corp., Loral Skynet, PentaMedia, Samsung Thales,
NEC Toshiba Space Systems, Nera Telecom, Orbital Sciences
Corp., SES Americom, Shin Satellite PCL, SingTel and Space Imaging displayed their new products and showed latest services and solutions. Also, Arianespace, ILS, MELCO, Orbital Sciences Corporation, SingTel, Space Systems/Loral, Boeing Satellite
Systems International, Telesat, MEASAT Satellite Systems, Sea Launch Company sponsored the various functions and social
events of APSCC 2005.
 
At the APSCC Council/Plenary meeting held on 29 September, business report and membership status were reported and the provisions of the Constitution for individual members and country representatives was reviewed and approved for revision.

Next year's APSCC 2006 will be held in Seoul, Korea from 26 to 28 September 2006 and will be a forum for senior executives to connect with each other and gain the latest information about the Asia-Pacific market and business opportunities through the first-rate panel discussions and educational sessions.
