Monday,
22 September 2008 : Military Satellite Services Workshop
10:00-11:00 Registration:
Pre-conference Military Satellite Services Workshop
11:00-12:30 Military
Satellite Applications
Demands
of the military are evolving and the need for more sophisticated
systems to accommodate different environments in the military sector
is increasing. Satellite technology’s unique capabilities qualify
it for just about any job. Military has many requirements to be
met by the satellite industry and the industry is rising to meet
the demands. There are many developments in satellite applications
to come and it will be very interesting to track such applications
that satellite makes. This session will hear how satellites contribute
to efficient, flexible military applications.

Satellite Payload Systems
Many
satellites carry X and Ku-band payloads mostly for military communications.
The worldwide availability of commercial capacity can reduce the
demand for military-owned resources; thereby some military payloads
share a common spacecraft bus with TV payloads. By using this approach,
there are opportunities to make better use of these capabilities
where it makes fiscal and operational sense. This session will review
on the military payload systems as well as how to redefine the role
of commercial satellites for military use.
