APSCC 2009 Satellite Conference and Exhibition

From September 29 to October 1, more than 350 delegates, speakers, sponsors, exhibitors and media attended Asia’s premier satellite event for business and networking opportunities in Asia, the 12th Asia-Pacific Satellite Communications, Broadcasting and Space Conference and Exhibition, which focused on the significant challenges and impacts due to the overall economic crisis that the satellite industry is experiencing, locally, regionally and internationally.
The first APSCC’s annual event in Malaysia, the APSCC 2009, under the theme of “Connectivity ? Convergence ? Communication”, provided a variety of panel discussions as well as presentations led by diverse outstanding senior industry executives who are experts in industrial trends and professional issues.
APSCC President, Dr. Nongluck Phinainitisart, opened the 3-day event and Mohamed Aris Bernawi, Senior Director from Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission delivered the Welcome Address. Also, Dr. Mustafa Din Subari, Director General of Malaysian National Space Agency and Dr. Mazlan Othman, Director of United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs addressed their keynote speech.
The Satellite Operators CEO Roundtable moderated by Patrick French, Senior Analyst, NSR. Peter Jackson, CEO, AsiaSat, Yutaka Nagai, Senior Executive Vice President, SKY Perfect JSAT Corp., Dr. Nongluck Phainainitisart, President, THAICOM, Paul Brown-Kenyon, COO, MEASAT, and Tom Choi, CEO, Asia Broadcast Satellite shared their insights on how they are positioning themselves for a sustained profitability and steady revenues in the global economy downturn.
